A Safer, More Efficient Method of Stacking, Storing and Dispensing Collapsible Containers
Abaxis, a provider of veterinary medicines worldwide, contacted the pharmaceutical national account manager for their annual order of plastic collapsible containers. Russ Catt, the manager, asked a series of questions to better understand their current workflow and how the containers were helping them in their operations.
Project Overview
The contact explained that the containers were working well for their internal needs and the needs of their customers, but they still had some operational challenges. These included double handling, two people lifting, stacking at the end of a shift and floor space constraints due to short stacks of containers placed throughout the building. It was determined that a container dispenser would be a perfect complement to the operation. The floor level dispensing design would add safety and efficiency, eliminate heavy lifting by the operators, improve productivity, and reap a great return on their investment (ROI).
Significant Floor Space Utilization
Ultimately, the customer made the decision to not only purchase the container dispenser, but they also purchased a third more containers then they originally intended to buy because of the increased efficiencies, handling and cube utilization of warehouse space.
Upon approval to proceed Cherry’s Industrial manufactured the container dispenser according the customer’s required specifications. Seeing that the customer was in California and Cherry’s manufacturing facility was in Illinois the customer shipped out 7 containers to our facility for testing the dispenser utilizing their containers. After thorough testing, a successful quality control inspection and virtual FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) the dispenser was shipped to the customer with the test containers stored within to help save on shipping costs.
Return on Investment
Nearly a year later after installation, startup, and successful use the customer informed us that they were tremendously pleased with the performance and ease of use of the container dispenser. They are now looking to purchase additional machines for their location and one of their other production facilities.
