Cherry’s Creates a Safer, More Reliable Pallet Inverter Solution

The customer is a multinational biotechnology company that offers an in-the-field blood analysis kit used for testing for more than 13 different diseases or illnesses within a self-contained test cup. In the production process, the product is stacked on pallets and layered after manufacturing. At this stage, the kits need to be tested for contaminants by tilting them upside down. If the product is contaminated, a detection ring appears on the outside of the test cup.

The customer was looking for a custom pallet inverter solution that could take the product stacked on a pallet and safely tilt it to the appropriate angle. Previously, it had experienced significant issues keeping all of the cups contained while slipping the pallet for the contamination inversion test. This resulted in product loss, re-work and diminished productivity.

Because the customer had experienced multiple failed attempts with other manufacturers, they required work to be performed on a “proof of concept basis” within their facility.

Delivering a Custom Pallet Inverter

Confident they could provide a viable product, Cherry’s Industrial Equipment offered the customer a flexible 90-day “rental or lease” program to eliminate all concerns. The skilled and experienced Cherry’s team, including engineering experts, designed a tailored solution to completely solve the customer’s challenges. Cherry’s delivered a dual clamp custom pallet inverter that can tilt the pallets for the contamination test while keeping the blood analysis kits contained.

The clamping device developed for the customer uses even pressure, so it doesn’t damage the test cups, but it keeps the stacked product from slipping or falling. The machine was tested with the actual product for several hours to confirm the dual clamp inverter met precise specifications. Testing was conducted at Cherry’s state-of-the-art facility with the customer present to prove the concept.

Pallet Inverter Case Study Overview

From the initial consultation to product implementation, Cherry’s stayed in close contact with the customer to understand its unique specifications and deliver a solution on time and within budget. In the end, Cherry’s was able to provide a product that ultimately met all of the customer’s requirements. The customized pallet inverter benefits included a smoother, safer and faster product testing process with less product loss and cleanup.

The duel clamp inverter is currently in use at their North Carolina facility. The customer was pleased with the “outside the box” problem-solving approach Cherry’s used, as well as their design and engineering expertise. They are currently discussing the possibility of ordering a second dual clamp inverter to increase their capacity to grow their business.
